This eight-frame postal history stamp exhibit presents the restoration of the Ethiopian Posts in 1941-1952.It begins with the British Army Post Offices in Addis Ababa that operated just after Ethiopia’s liberation in 1941. It continues with the use of British King George VI stamps used by the Ethiopian Posts during three months in 1942 before a set of Ethiopian stamps was issued. The exhibit then describes the expansion of the Posts into small towns, the introduction of air mail, and the various stamps that were issued in 1942-1952. It ends in September 1952 when Eritrea was federated with Ethiopia under a U.N. mandate and the Ethiopian Posts expanded into Eritrea.Ethiopia’s philatelic history is of great importance. Ethiopia was never a European colony. It had to create its own path and was free to issue stamps that celebrated and commemorated specific Ethiopian events. The exhibit covers the first decade of Emperor Haile Selassie’s efforts to modernize Ethiopia. The material presented in this book was collected over a period of four decades. It includes many rare items from this interesting period. The restoration is also told in an article published in May 2023 in The London Philatelist, as reprinted in this book. This book is the third volume of the comprehensive treatment of Ethiopian stamps.Another exciting exhibit from Exhibitors Press. Read more
